The Mathematics Department at Vivek High School organised an exciting Inter-House Mathematics Quiz for students from Grades 4 to 12. The event brought together enthusiastic young mathematicians from Gandhara, Vikramashila, Nalanda and Taxila Houses, providing them with a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate their mathematical knowledge, logical reasoning, quick thinking and teamwork.
The quizzes were conducted in age-appropriate categories to ensure that students across the different grades could participate confidently and enjoy the challenge. The quiz for Grades 6 to 8 was held on Friday, 14 August 2026, while the quiz for Grades 9 to 12 took place on 11 September 2026. Students from the various grades participated with great enthusiasm and transformed Mathematics into an engaging and lively experience beyond the classroom.
The competition featured three challenging rounds: the Multiple Choice Round, the Buzzer Round and the Rapid Fire Round.
The Multiple Choice Round tested students’ conceptual understanding, mathematical knowledge and accuracy. The Buzzer Round challenged their alertness, presence of mind and ability to respond quickly and confidently under pressure. The Rapid Fire Round brought the quiz to an energetic conclusion, testing students’ mental calculation, quick reasoning, decision-making and teamwork within a limited time.
The quiz was filled with enthusiasm and healthy competition. Students encouraged their teammates, celebrated their successes and remained positive while tackling challenging questions. The participation of students from different grades also highlighted the importance of collaboration, communication and learning from one another.
Throughout the event, Gandhara, Vikramashila, Nalanda and Taxila Houses displayed commendable team spirit and sporting enthusiasm. Every participant contributed to the excitement of the quiz and demonstrated that Mathematics is much more than numbers and formulas. It is a way of thinking, reasoning, questioning, solving problems and discovering possibilities beyond the obvious.
After an exciting contest, Taxila House emerged as the winning house, demonstrating consistency, teamwork and impressive mathematical ability across all three rounds. Congratulations to the winning team, and a big round of applause to all the participants for their enthusiastic participation, confidence and sporting spirit.
The Inter-House Mathematics Quiz was a memorable celebration of curiosity, intelligence and teamwork. It encouraged students to think beyond the textbook and showed them that Mathematics can be both challenging and enjoyable.
A quiz may have one winning house, but every participant takes away a new way of thinking.
